Print Audit® Celebrates The Holidays With Less Paper Waste – And More Local Charity

Calgary, Alberta - January 25, 2010 – When it comes to gift giving during the holiday season, sometimes it’s not just the thought that counts. While Print Audit® wished to remember their collaborators and clients this past Christmas, the print managment company decided that a heartfelt action might be more appreciated than a few words – and reams of wasted paper. This year, the Calgary-based developers of Print Audit 6 skipped mailing their usual sacks of holiday cards and instead donated the money to a local charity with a noble mission.

Print Audit donated the money usually spent on holiday cards to the Calgary Drop-In & Rehab Centre (The DI), which offers the city’s homeless safe, respectful, and compassionate services that withhold judgement and engender opportunity. Instead of cards, Print Audit customers received an environmentally-friendly email with information about the holiday donation made in their name.

“One tree yields about 3,000 holiday cards – and in the United States alone 2.65 billion greeting cards are sold each year. Environmental concerns are one of our central motivators at Print Audit, and we understand that making earth-conscious decisions are also increasingly important to our clients,” said John MacInnes, President and CEO of Print Audit. “Using our print management tools, our customers save 190,000 trees each year, and we hope that our other green business decisions save even more.

For the last 48 years, the DI has provided those in need with food, shelter, clothing, counselling, education, support, employment assistance, and rehabilitation. Donations to the DI help with regular operations as well as the organization’s holiday events, which include a Christmas meal, holiday wishlist, and stockings filled with everyday essentials. On Christmas Day alone, the DI assisted over 1,200 Calgary residents.
