We’re getting a lot of requests from folks to get our take on the ECi Software Solutions acquisition of PrintFleet. As Print Audit is one of the 3 largest device monitoring platforms (sorry, now 1 of 2!) people seem to think we have some thoughts around this news. Of course we do! Here is what Print Audit thinks of the acquisition in 3 concise bullet points:
- We’re happy for Brian Cosgrove: If you haven’t met Brian Cosgrove, that's too bad. He’s one heck of a good guy and has done an incredible amount of good work to make the office equipment channel a better place. If you do know Brian then you know that what we say is true: He’s one of the good guys. Everybody at Print Audit is happy that Brian is being rewarded for all the work he has done to elevate the channel over the years. Brian, you deserve nothing but the best!
- We’re not excited or sad: The acquisition does nothing to change how we all do business or how we all grow. The device monitoring market is NOT a growth market, it is one of consolidation. Device monitoring is no longer a value-add, nothing that will help you to win more business. If you’re not using one of us today for device management then you likely aren’t going to start using any one of us anytime soon. Device monitoring and management has become as exciting as tires on a car. Every car needs tires, and good ones, it’s expected. Same with device management software. It’s no longer cool (maybe it never was?), it’s not driving the industry to new heights, it’s just an expected thing that office equipment dealers have to provide. If you already provide this, mission accomplished. If you don’t, well, that’s another conversation.
- Print Audit continues being Print Audit: If you’re currently a Premier member you get it. If you’re not a member, let me paint the picture a little for you. Print Audit provides world-class device monitoring and management solutions and we’re very proud of what we offer. But that isn’t all we are, it’s not all our Premier members are. Print Audit and our Premier members are growing by doing more for customers. More means providing user and document security solutions. More means providing document management and intranet solutions that dealers can actually sell and that users can actually use. More means providing actionable intelligence around print, user and document data through BI Dashboards like Insight. More means putting in the hard work of making sure dealers can flourish with new business models like Seat Based Billing. More means we are becoming more than we were a year ago and more than we were 5 years ago. More means more opportunity for Print Audit and our Premier members. That’s what Print Audit does and that is what we will continue to do. Ready for something more? Reach out to us HERE, we’d love to talk more!
So, there you go, there’s our official thoughts on the matter. Our mission to “save the office equipment industry” continues. 2018 is off to a great start, so let’s continue to work together and make it the best year yet!
