Implementing a Document Management solution is a technical and information architecture practice, but even more than that, it’s a Change Management activity.  If you think about it, we’ve all figured out ways to manage our documents over our professional careers.  Sure, no one else can find our content, and the wrong version is usually accessed, but we all have ‘a way of doing things.  While virtually every office worker on the planet will agree that a Document Management system will make work easier, many of those same people will be slow to start working with one…why?  The answer is simple, change is hard for people.
